Convert .txt to .html
NEW INFO 12-2025 - maybe I am an idiot! I think if you use the "<"pre">" tag, it will display the txt the way it looks!!!!!!!!!!!!! see https://kygenweb.net/kyschools/campbell/campbell.co.newport.hs.yb.1943.html
When you have an online .txt document and you want to create an HTML page for your site out of it.
- View the page in your browser - http://files.usgwarchives.net/id/cassia/caribou/
- Use Ctrl-A and Ctrl-C to copy all of the text
- Use Ctrl-A and Ctrl-V to paste all of the text into a "WordPad" document (.rtf)
- Use Ctrl-A and Ctrl-C to copy all of the text
- Use Ctrl-A and Ctrl-V to paste all of the text in a "WYSIWYG editor for HTML" I use Get-Simple but they have online choices like: https://htmleditor.online/
- Go to the "source" button to see the HTML that has been generated.
- Use Ctrl-A and Ctrl-C to copy all of the HTML code there
- Use Ctrl-A and Ctrl-V to paste all of the code into NotePad++ or whatever editor you use.
NOTE: If I have the txt document on my computer I can right click and open with 'wordpad'
NOTE: the code generated can be really ugly but you end up with a nice HTML page (example below)
